Kennamer Ketchup

Boy oh boy! Where do I even begin? These last few months social media free have been such a blessing, but also a season of change for us. So much has happened I thought it deserved an entire post. What better way to give you all the juicy details than slapping some alliteration in the title? By the way, I must inform you, ketchup utterly disgusts me, but this was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

So, Ketching up with this Kennamer. See what I did there? *insert winky face with tongue out* Okay, okay I’m done now. Let’s get down to business- TO DEFEAT THE HUNS! But for real, here we go!

What seems like a lifetime ago, October 2019, was the beginning of the busiest time of year for us. On top of the holidays, we have a TON of birthdays in the family towards the end of the year, our sweet boy included. My Tucker Scott turned TWO, people. How on earth do I have a full blown toddler?!

Tuck turns TWO

Tucker’s birthday was full of celebration and love. Marshall took the day off so we could spend it together. We started the morning with birthday balloons and donuts- obviously! Then we spent the day at the coolest little place, called Sarasota Children’s Garden. We had an absolute blast exploring. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. It’s a place we will definitely be returning to.

That  following weekend we had Tucker’s party with our entire family. Honestly, I didn’t buy one party decoration. I know that’s probably hard to believe, everyone goes overboard for their little’s parties, but cross my heart. I  just wanted it to be about celebrating Tuck. Surrounded by our loved ones and good food. Tucker couldn’t care less about decorations right now, so I decided not to either.

Halloween 2019

If you know me, you know I am a procrastinator to the highest degree. So, preplanning elaborate halloween costumes, with Tucker’s birthday just days before? Not my cup of tea, and you know what? That’s totally okay. Maybe one day that’ll change, and maybe it won’t. For now, we went with simple, easy, and didn’t spend a dime on his costume.

My little surfer dude.

We rode around our neighborhood, and Tuck got to actually trick or treat this year. It was a perfect halloween.

Momma’s getting old

I turned twenty three this past November, and Duane spoiled me rotten this year for my birthday. I woke up to fresh coffee, decorations, gifts, the whole shabang. He never fails to make me feel special, and I am eternally grateful for him.

One of my gifts this year was a book that Duane had picked out for me. I can just imagine him wandering around the bookstore reading the cover flaps, hoping to find the perfect one.

There’s nothing sweeter to me than such a personalized gift, like a book. This man knows my soul.

Well, let me tell ya, this book turned out to be the BEST book I have EVER read. Seriously. I fell in love with this book in it’s entirety. Go read it.

We spent the entire day together as a family, and he arranged for us to have a night to ourselves. We went on a sunset walk downtown, and he cooked dinner for me when we came home. The next morning we got up with the sun and took a hike at a local state park- with more coffee of course. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate turning twenty three.

Woof! Woof!

Part of my birthday present this year was adopting a doggo from our local humane society! With Marshall traveling so often for work, I really wanted to adopt an adult dog. After multiple visits to different animal shelters in our area, we found the perfect fit for our family! Everybody, say hello to our newest family member, Reef! He’s a doberman mix, and the absolute sweetest pup. He’s four years old, and the perfect combination of goofball and guard dog. We’re incredibly thankful that he chose us.

Going into our “winter” months, it’s too cold to go to the beach here in Florida. Mostly because it’s IMPOSSIBLE to keep Tucker Scott out of the water. So, we traded our beach trips for nature walks this season. It was absolutely magical. We have had so much fun exploring our local nature preserves. I have a more in depth adventuring blog post coming your way, so I don’t want to give too much away just yet. Keep your eye out for it!

We typically celebrate all holidays in a nontraditional sense. Meaning, we just have a big family get together and eat good food. If it’s a birthday or Christmas, the boys open gifts. It’s not formal in any way, it’s basically one big hangout. I think it’s a perfect way to celebrate the holidays, because it’s about spending time together as a family. I have two handsome little nephews around Tucker’s age, so it’s triple the fun when we all get together!

This year Tuck very much enjoyed the holidays, and it was such a treat starting our own holiday traditions that he could actually participate in.

We also baked lots and lots of Christmas cookies, and found the BEST sugar cookie recipe. Like to die for. Like make in the middle of the year because they’re so darn good.

Working Mama

You guys. I went back to work. In January, I started part time at an assisted living and memory care facility as a med tech. I only work two days a week, but after being a stay at home mom for over two years, this was a huge transition for us. Luckily, Tuck doesn’t have to go to daycare. My mama heart is not quite ready for that, and may never be. We’re so blessed to be able to divide my time at work between both of our families.

It’s incredibly nice to get out of the house and interact with other humans. Honestly though, it took me a good month to really get into the swing of the things. Being a working mom is hard, but we’re doing alright.

Aunt Lou Came to Town

Eeeek! Aunt Lou came for a visit! It was short, and sweet, but packed full of fun! Tucker’s godmother lives in Michigan, so we only get to see her a few times a year. It makes her visits even sweeter when she is able to.

Daddy’s getting older 😉

Last, but certainly not least, we celebrated Duane’s twenty fourth birthday a few weeks ago! It was supposed to be a huge surprise party at the beach with all of our loved ones. Not one thing went according to plan. Typical. It was just nice to have both sides of our family together for one huge celebration of the man that we all adore.

I think this has pretty much brought you all up to speed on our life, and we can finally move on to bigger and better things!

Well guys, if you’ve stuck around this long, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. I appreciate you being here, and showing up in my corner of the interweb, and I will continue to do the same for you.

TTFN – Ta ta for now!
